Carefully placed among 1,200 rolling, forested hillsides and sheltered by over 430,000 acres of the Huron National Forest on three sides, Forest Dunes has a history up here. We have played host to industry titans like Henry Ford and George Mason, who used the property for their personal hunting and fly fishing retreat in the early 20th century. They also found our area to be the perfect place to unwind. The nearby south branch of the AuSable River is known worldwide by anglers as one of the finest Trout streams in the country. It was on the this storied river that Trout Unlimited was formed over 50 years ago. Today, our members in residence enjoy a Golf Digest Top 20 in America golf course, hiking, bird watching, fishing and water sports among tall jack pines, maple and aspen hardwoods that have achieved the coveted Certified Gold Sanctuary rating by Audubon International, one of 16 world wide.
